Exciting opportunity to work within and experience the culture of the Canadian arctic! The locum Regional Physiotherapist (PT) will travel via plane or ice road to remote and isolated communities within the Beaufort Delta and Sahtu regions of the Northwest Territories and see parts of the world visited by relatively few. The Rehabilitation team in Inuvik is interested in a candidate who can integrate all the physiotherapists’ roles that lead to promotion, improvement and maintenance of mobility and health in this unique setting. This position is located in the Inuvik Regional Hospital, which is a 51 bed accredited facility serving the town of Inuvik and twelve outlying communities serviced by the BDHSSA. There are approximately 10,000 residents in the Sahtu and Beaufort-Delta regions. The BDHSSA provides and supports the delivery of health care services to adults and children on an inpatient, outpatient and outreach basis in order to enhance healthy communities and well being through excellence, accountability and respect for regional diversity. Reporting directly to the Manager of Rehabilitation and Health Promotion, the incumbent independently provides assessment, diagnostic, rehabilitative and preventative services to inpatients and outpatients ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics. The Rehabilitation Department consists of the Manager of Rehabilitation, two Occupational Therapists, two Speech Language Pathologists, and two Rehabilitation Assistants. The successful candidate will receive a highly competitive salary with substantial annual leave. Preference will be given to candidates with at least 2 years work experience. |

Registrations

Within the BDHSSA Physiotherapists must be eligible for membership with the Canadian Physiotherapist Association (CPA), and be professionally licensed in any Canadian province as an active member. |

Immunization Status
|
|
The successful candidate will be required to obtain proof of current up-to-date immunization status. |

|
|
Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
|

Salary Information
|
|
The salary for this position starts at $44.75 per hour plus Northern Allowance of $7.34 per hour. |

Les régions du Sahtu et de Beaufort-Delta comptent environ 10 000 résidents. Pour fournir des soins de santé ambulatoires, hospitaliers et communautaires et ainsi augmenter le mieux-être des collectivités, l’ASSSSBD favorise l’excellence, la responsabilisation et le respect de la diversité régionale. Le physiothérapeute régional relève directement du responsable de la réadaptation et de la promotion de la santé. Il effectue des évaluations, pose des diagnostics et offre des services de réadaptation et de prévention de façon autonome aux patients hospitalisés et non hospitalisés de tous âges. Le service de réadaptation est composé du responsable de la réadaptation, de deux ergothérapeutes, de deux orthophonistes et de deux assistants en réadaptation. Le candidat retenu recevra un salaire très concurrentiel et un grand nombre de congés annuels.
