The physician is responsible to deliver Care of the Elderly services to residents in the region as a consultant in the Seniors Health Services Team.   The Seniors Health Services Team is a multidisciplinary team providing non-emergent assessment, consultation and time limited service to the senior population with the Southern Health-Santé Sud region. The team consists of Mental Health Clinicians, Geriatric Nurse Specialists, Community Outreach Workers, Itinerant Support Workers, with consulting Geriatric Psychiatry and Family Physicians with training in Care of the Elderly.

Physicians providing Care of the Elderly advocate for their individual patients as well as for all patients within complex healthcare delivery systems, by aiming to optimize (not necessarily maximizing) care, including prevention of other conditions. Physicians providing Care of the Elderly recognize that the practice of medicine is tightly linked to the art and science of health care delivery and, by virtue of their pivotal role are uniquely placed to engage in quality improvement, patient safety, and healthcare systems initiatives. *Full position description available upon request.

• Must be eligible for registration and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba.

• Demonstrated ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the job.
