Ambulance Operator/Attendant
The primary purpose of this position is to provide emergency medical care, operation of the ambulance as required and assist in the provision of a safe environment for clients, staff and visitors; safeguarding buildings, equipment and property & enforcing regulations. Work involves contact with the general public requiring diplomacy, discretion, confidentiality and initiative. In emergency medical situations, the incumbent provides first aid, and assists the Paramedic, Nurse and/or physician in providing services to minimize disability or loss of life. This position reports to the Clinical Nurse Manager.
Qualifications:
” High school or equivalent;
” Provincial registration and licensure as EMR II (minimum);
” Current certification in Standard First Aid and CPR;
” Class IV driver’s license;
” Possess Radio-Telephone Operators Restricted Certificate (land); Airside Vehicle Operator’s Permit; Transportation of Dangerous Goods certificate or willing to complete in time frame deemed by employer;
” Knowledge of universal precautions;
” Breastfeeding Education/Course;
” Ability to perform medical tasks as a member of the health care team;
” Good communication skills and an ability to deal effectively with the public;
” Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions;
” The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory certificate of conduct.
Duties and Responsibilities:
” Drives ambulance, establishes and maintains communication with hospital and/or clinic;
” Provision of emergency patient care in accordance with provincial standards;
” Assists in the safe maintenance of the ambulance, equipment, and supplies;
” Maintains adequate records in accordance with organizational and provincial standards;
” Make rounds inside and outside Labrador Grenfell properties;
” Identifies and reports security/safety issues;
” Responds and provides support to emergency situations;
” Provides assistance to nursing staff as required;
” Enforces Labrador Grenfell Health policies;
” Performs other related duties as required.

Salary:
” CG-25 Level at $21.53 to $23.74 hourly.
