Job Description
Pediatric Registered Nurse
- Assesses and provides primary care to the patients assigned to him/her, including treatment, medications, teaching, psycho social support, developmental interventions, plan of cares, and other duties deemed necessary for the smooth and safe operation of the facility.
- Provides physical assessments; developmental assessments; respiratory treatments; vital signs; enteral or oral feedings; ostomy care; dressings and skin care; proper positioning and orthotics applications; medications by oral, g-tube, and any other interventions ordered by a physician that are within the scope of the nursing license.
- Gives formal and informal teaching directed to parent/patient/guardian regarding all aspects of the child’s care including treatment, equipment use and maintenance, stress reduction, health maintenance, rehabilitation, and any other medical, nursing, psychosocial, or developmental needs. The staff nurse researches topics for which parents desire/need information, creates reference files for future use, and provides parents with written materials and models to facilitate teaching.
- Maintains proper positioning of patient; therapeutic play appropriate to age level; educational activities as appropriate; implementing therapy care plan as written by the physiotherapist; provides a loving and nurturing environment for the child.
- Responsible for the observation of parent/child interactions and parents involvement with the child ‘s care; being available to parents for listening and providing positive support; making referrals to Social Workers or Psychologists as needed.
- Attends all appropriate staff meetings and case meetings; knows all consultants and what the scope of there functions is; communicates freely and concisely via verbal or written means to all members of the health care team; knows all community resources and makes referrals as necessary.
Required experience:
- Pediatric Experience, 6 months of it spend in critical care.: 2 years
