Summary:
Restores patient’s function, alleviates pain, and prevents disabilities by planning and administering medically prescribed physical therapy.Physical therapists focus on the evaluation of strength, balance, range of motion, coordination, endurance, and posture of each individual patient. Rehabilitation strategies often involve specific exercises to stretch and strengthen muscles as well as to improve posture, balance, and endurance. Over the course of the rehabilitation period, physical therapists document progress, re-evaluate physical findings, and modify treatment strategies as appropriate. Duties and

Responsibilities:
Must be able to administer active or passive manual therapeutic exercises, therapeutic massages, aquatic physical therapy, or heat, light, sound, or electrical modality treatments such as ultrasound. Must be able to document patient treatment and billing by end of shift. Must be able to request time off according to company policy. Must be able to administer traction to relieve neck or back pain, using intermittent or static traction equipment. Must be able to assist patients in getting dressed, undressed, or placing or removing supportive devices, such as braces, splints, or slings. Must be able to attend or conduct continuing education courses, seminars, or in-service activities. Must be able to clean work area and check and store equipment after treatment. Must be able to communicate with or instruct caregivers, physician, and case manager or family members of patients therapeutic activates or treatment plans. Must be able to confer with physical therapy staff or others to discuss and evaluate patients information for planning, modifying, or coordinating treatment. Must be able to fit patients for orthopedic braces, prostheses, or supportive devices, such as crutches. Must be able to instruct, motivate, safeguard, and assist patients as they practice therapeutic exercises or functional activities. Must be able to measure patients range-of-motion, body parts, or vital signs to determine effects of treatments or for patients evaluations. Must be able to monitor operation of equipment and record use of equipment and administration of treatment. Must be able to observe patients during treatment to compile and evaluate data on their response and progress and provide results to physical therapist in person or through progress notes. Must be able to perform postural drainage, percussions, or vibrations or teach deep breathing exercises to treat respiratory conditions. Must be able to prepare treatment areas and electrotherapy equipment for use by physiotherapists. Must be able to secure patients both into and onto therapeutic equipment. Must be able to train patient on the use of orthopedic braces, prostheses, and or supportive devices. Must be able to transport patients to and from treatment area, such as lifting and transferring each patient according to needed positioning requirements. Must be able to ensure that patients therapy scripts are valid, and recorded with in 24 hour of receipt. Must be able to assist in keeping sure that the break area and facility is kept nice, clean and tidy. Must be able to stay knowledgeable on works compensation, private insurance and Medicare regulations. Must be able to treat patients in a kind, friendly, and courteous manner. Must be able to maintain a valid professional regulatory license to ensure continued employment. Must be able to participate in marketing events and activities to ensure company growth and development. Must be able to provide direct patient care and utilize state of the art therapeutic equipment, and the latest technology such as hand held devices and electronic health records. Must be able to manage daily activities using key performance metric to ensure optimal clinical care is delivered and operating results are achieved. Must be able to perform any other duties that may become assigned in the future.

Skills:

Credentialing:
At the time of employment, all national examination for physical therapist must be completed, and passed in order to insure gainful employment with Access Physical Therapy. Along with any state requirements needed in order to practice.

Language Ability:
Must be able to fluently read, analyze, speak and interpret general business periodical, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations in the English language. The ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals in the English language. The ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from physicians, patients, and general public in the English language.

Mathematical Ability:
Must have the ability to accurately calculate, discounts, authorizations units, therapeutic units, interest and percentages.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions regarding such data. Along with being able to interpret a variety of technical instructions and deal with abstract and concrete variables.

Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Therapist must be willing and able to work a scheduled 40-hour work week, some evenings and weekends to accommodate the needs of our patients.
