POSITION SUMMARY:

We are currently seeking a casual Physiotherapist (PT) to work at Mackenzie Health in our Richmond Hill site and RCC site at Bathurst and Finch. The Physiotherapist ( PT) will provide patient management through all stages of assessment, treatment, consultation and follow-up services to patients. The successful candidate will be familiar working in a team environment and in delegating treatment to appropriately qualified therapy assistants.

As the successful candidate, you are a graduate of an accredited program in Physiotherapy and are a member in good standing of the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario. You demonstrate excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal, along with a high level of initiative and adaptability to rapidly changing demands.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct Physiotherapy Initial Assessments and Treatment interventions with an ALC population awaiting their next phase of care
  • Document patient care interventions and formulate goals and recommendations
  • Plan and implement patient-centered, goal-directed treatment programs
  • Make recommendations regarding discharge and liaise with inter-professional team members as required.
  • Serve as a point of contact for weekend Therapy Assistants and provide Re-Assessment as clinically appropriate.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduate of an accredited program in Physiotherapy and a member in good standing of the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario.
  • Member of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association an asset
  • 1-2 years of rehabilitation or inpatient experience preferred
  • Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Able to work collaboratively and appropriately with Therapy Assistants to provide exceptional patient care
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work co-operatively with an inter-professional team
  • Strong communication skills – both written and verbal
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage workload in a fast-paced and changing environment
  • Self-directed learner, able to identify and seek assistance and direction appropriately
  • Excellent performance and attendance record
  • Sound knowledge of community resources an asset
  • This position is a casual position for both weekdays and weekends

POSITION:

The Physiotherapist (PT) is an integral member of the Physiotherapy service, Allied Health and clinical programs in which care is provided. Through the provision of patient and non-patient care activities, the PT enhances the quality of life of patients by assessing, planning and implementing individually designed programs of physical treatment to maintain, improve or restore physical functioning and cardio-respiratory health, alleviate pain and prevent physical dysfunction in patients. QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of Bachelors Degree or equivalent in Physical Therapy
  • Current registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (C Level) Heart Saver Plus Canada (on employment)
  • Minimum 2 years clinical experience in neuro rehabilitation required; with Stroke population preferred

Position Summary:This role within Marketed Services is to provide clinical assessment and treatment services to injured workers who have sustained an MSK and or mild traumatic brain injury in the workplace. This role is part of an interdisciplinary team including Physician specialists, Physiotherapists, Occupational therapists, Sppech and Language Pathologists, Psychologists, Kinesiologists and PTAs/OTAs.

  • Perform a comprehensive physiotherapy assessment as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Written communication of assessment findings in an comprehensive report
  • Provide treatment as part of an Interdisciplinary team for clients with Musculoskeletal Injuries or a Mild Traumatic Brain Injury with a primary focus on concussion, and possible vestibular issues that have been referred by third-party payers (e.g. WSIB, employers, insurers etc.)
  • Supervision of PTA/OTA as needed
  • Work as part of an interdisciplinary team to provide evidence based, outcome oriented care and recommendations
  • Provide therapy services in keeping with the College guidelines and standards of practice
  • Participate in return to work planning with an Interdisciplinary team and multiple stakeholders
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement and evaluation.
  • Contribute to the overall vision/mandate of the Marketed Services Health System
  • Supervision of students as required

Key Qualifications:

  • BScPT or MScPT in Physiotherapy or equivalent – required
  • Registration with Ontario College of Physiotherapists in good standing
  • Membership with the Canadian Physiotherapy Association is preferred
  • Excellent written communication skills required for the preparation of comprehensive reports
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Experience providing services to third party payers including WSIB
  • Evidence of continuing education, professional and personal development is.
  • Reliable, flexible, creative, self-directed professional able to work effectively and collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team
  • Exercises initiative and good judgment with ability to multi-task
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal, time management and organizational skills

Preferred Experience:

  • Relevant experience in assessment and treatment of a variety of musculoskeletal conditions and mild traumatic brain injury/concussion in an ambulatory care setting
  • Level 2 Manual therapy, Vestibular rehabilitation and Concussion rehabilitation an asset
  • Previous experience in the areas of Orthopaedics, concussion rehabilitation, vestibular rehabilitation, return to work planning, functional evaluation, work conditioning and return to work strategies an asset
