1A Surgery offers you the opportunity to provide a safe environment and quality patient care to a varied surgical population; from general surgery, orthopedics, urology, vascular surgery and the specialties of plastic, maxilla-facial surgery, and most recently our specialty of oncology surgery. With our growing oncology population we have added a 6 bed surgical observation unit requiring increased observation post surgery.
Providing care to such a diverse group of surgical patients, this position is accountable for the assessment of post surgical patients referred by the physician to Physiotherapy Services with physical dysfunction of the musculo-skeletal, neurophysiological or cardio-pulmonary systems. Also included are the planning and implementation of treatment and/or education programs to improve function and/ or prevent disability, as well as recording and communicating findings to team members.

Qualifications:
- Candidate must be a graduate of an accredited School of Physiotherapy
- Registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario and eligibility and/or membership with the C.P.A. is required
- Experience treating acute care respiratory, general medicine and surgical patients is preferred
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated effectiveness working independently as well as liaising with community resources
- Available to work weekends
- Satisfactory performance and attendance required

Position Summary:
- Perform a comprehensive physiotherapy assessment as part of a multidisciplinary team and contribute to writing multidisciplinary report
- Provide treatment as part of an Interdisciplinary team for clients with Traumatic Brain Injury with a primary focus on concussion, possible vestibular issues and MSK issues that have been referred by third-party payers (e.g. WSIB, employers, insurers etc.)
- Supervision of PTA/OTA
- Work as part of an interdisciplinary team to provide evidence based, outcome oriented care and recommendations
- Provide therapy services in keeping with the College guidelines and standards of practice
- Participate in return to work planning with an Interdisciplinary team and multiple stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to work on a dynamic, interprofessional team including working with other Allied health professionals, Physicians, Occupational Therapists, families and community partners using effective communication skills
- Participate in continuous quality improvement and evaluation.
- Contribute to the overall vision/mandate of the Neuro/MSK Health System

Key Qualifications:
- BScPT or MScPT in Physiotherapy or equivalent – required
- Registration with Ontario College of Physiotherapists in good standing
- Membership with the Ontario Physiotherapy Association/Canadian Physiotherapy Association is preferred
- Excellent written communication skills required for the preparation of comprehensive reports
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Experience providing services to third party payers including WSIB
- Evidence of continuing education, professional and personal development is.

Preferred Experience:
- Relevant experience in treating a variety of Neurological conditions especially mild traumatic brain injury/concussion and MSK conditions in an ambulatory care setting
- Level 2 Manual therapy, Vestibular rehabilitation and Concussion rehabilitation an asset
- Previous experience in the areas of neurological rehabilitation, vestibular rehabilitation, return to work planning, functional evaluation, work conditioning and return to work strategies an asset

POSITION SUMMARY:
We are currently seeking a casual Physiotherapist (PT) to work at Mackenzie Health in our Richmond Hill site and RCC site at Bathurst and Finch. The Physiotherapist ( PT) will provide patient management through all stages of assessment, treatment, consultation and follow-up services to patients. The successful candidate will be familiar working in a team environment and in delegating treatment to appropriately qualified therapy assistants.

We currently have a Temporary Part-time opportunity for a Physiotherapist in the Inpatient Units at the St. John’s Rehab campus (until approx. January 2021).
Summary of Duties:
The Physiotherapist (PT) works as a member of the interprofessional inpatient rehabilitation team. The PT utilizes a person-centred approach in considering the occupational performance issues, component skills and environmental factors having an impact on the functional level of their patients, in preparation for discharge to the community.
The PT is responsible for conducting assessments, developing care plans, providing patient/family education, evaluating progress, and identifying the need for supplementary assessments or referrals, relevant to the patient population the unit serves. The PT actively participates in interprofessional team activities such as team meetings, clinical rounds, team huddles and quality improvement initiatives. The PT assigns appropriate tasks to Physiotherapist Assistants and volunteers under their indirect supervision, and participates actively in the clinical teaching and supervision of PT and PTA students.
Qualifications/Skills:
- Successful completion of a recognized post-secondary program in Physiotherapy.
- Current registration in good standing with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario.
- Minimum one year of clinical experience relative to the patient population the unit serves.
- Excellent professional judgment, conflict resolution and interpersonal communication skills with patients, families, team members, students and community partners.
- Competence in the practice of evidence-based physiotherapy and interprofessional care, with experience in the application of practice models and outcome measures relevant to the patient population the unit serves.
