JOB PURPOSE AND SUMMARY
The Director of Professional Practice is responsible for leading transformative, collaborative practice across the Patient Care Services portfolio. This role integrates Trillium Health Partners’ (THP) quality, education and research priorities with practice to drive an exceptional patient experience.
Reporting to the Senior Vice-President, Patient Care Services & Chief Nursing Executive (CNE), this position will collaborate with all members of the Interprofessional team, including learners from all of patient care services programs. The director will serve as the liaison with internal and external partners to enhance the patient experience while improving quality, practice and patient outcomes.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identifies and evaluates the quality and effectiveness of clinical practices, services and programs
- Provides expert professional practice and education advice to formal leaders and front line staff.
- Liaises and partners with Regulatory Colleges and Associations as required
- Works collaboratively with all staff to facilitate and create consistent inter-professional care practices to support the delivery of quality patient focused care
- Leads a team focused on identifying and supporting strategic practice opportunities, which align with the organization’s vision, mission and values
- Provides advice to all members of the interprofessional team and patient care programs related to the creation of a collaborative teaching environment.
- Aligns educational activities and works directly with clinical educators to deliver education
- Oversees ongoing development of our Nursing and Interprofessional Advisory Councils and Allied Health Council.
- Designs and implements initiatives that support and align with the strategic plan of the organization.
- Supports a harmonized recruitment strategy including oversight for the clinical resource team.
- Scans the external environment for relevant topics for consideration at THP.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Experience and Skills
- Master’s degree in a health related field
- Current Registration with respective professional college
- 7+ years professional experience in a health discipline with progressive management experience
- Knowledge of College Standards for Allied Health Professionals, Nursing and Physician
- Sound knowledge and experience in Clinical Research required
- Current university cross appointment (or eligibility) is an asset
- Strong, well developed business management skills (strategic planning, budgeting, resource allocation and analytics)
- Well developed, leadership and management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- Results-oriented and client-focused with a commitment to excellence
- Superior analytical, problem solving, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to build effective working relationships with a dynamic, professional team
- Demonstrated management and staff development with emphasis on coaching, mentoring and leadership
