General Duty X-Ray Technologist-Radiology Diagnostics
Qualifications:

Graduation from a recognized school of Medical Imaging Technology.

On-going participation in relevant courses, seminars etc. required. Previous related experience preferred.

Familiarity with PACS and RIS preferred.

Successful completion of an accredited Medical Imaging Technology Program, eligible for registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) and the Manitoba Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (MAMRT) upon hire and registered with the CAMRT and MAMRT within three months of hire.

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training requirements for this position shall in be in accordance with WRHA policy.

Must exhibit good interpersonal and English, written and oral communication skills.

Ability to demonstrate compassion to all patients, and recognize and calm those with high degree of anxiety.

Preference will be given to candidates competent in an Aboriginal language and/or knowledge in Aboriginal customs, beliefs, and practices.
This position is subject to a Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Search, a Child Abuse Registry Check and an Adult Abuse Registry Check. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred.
Duties: Under the general direction of the Section Head, Adult Radiology and/or Diagnostic Imaging Manager, Section of Adult Radiology, the incumbent is responsible for performing and assisting radiologists and other physicians in the performance of routine radiological procedures such as General Duty (including mobile imaging), Lithotripsy, Central Line Placements, Pacemaker Insertions, Fluoroscopy and OR. Assist and/or relieve Senior X-Ray Technologists and Charge Technologists in special procedure areas such as O.R. and Fluoroscopy.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
Good physical and mental health and manual dexterity. Stands and moves about during most of the working day. Bends, reaches, and lifts and carries for short distances, materials or accessory equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. At times may be required to push or pull heavy equipment. Lifts and positions patients, some of whom are in a state of unconsciousness. The incumbent is exposed to radiation (within acceptable limits) and to disagreeable elements such as contagious disease, anesthetic gases, etc. Exposed to extreme patient injuries. The incumbent works on an “on-call” basis primarily for the general duty areas.
