Role Details
Medical Assessors conduct the medical portion of SureHire’s Fitness-to-Work Testing by assessing workers for any pre-existing musculoskeletal injuries or health conditions that may lead to further injury on the work site. You will also get to observe and instruct a worker through proper lifting protocol during Critical Strength and Mobility Testing and also have the opportunity to assist your team by performing a variety of occupational tests.
SureHire is looking for an energetic, motivated individual with a positive attitude to join our in team at our Leduc facility in Edmonton, Alberta. Hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm. Applicants must have their own vehicle as this position involves occasional travel. The compensation structure for this position is dependent upon level of experience and education. Benefits are also available after three months.
Responsibilities
Fitness-to-Work
- Review a worker’s health and injury history, blood pressure measurement, grip strength and PAR-Q to ensure they are safe to exercise
- Perform a full-body musculoskeletal evaluation to identify any pre-existing conditions
- Conducting critical strength and mobility testing; Demonstrate proper lifting technique; Monitor heart rate and oxygen levels; Ensure proper lifting techniques are being used
- Follow SureHire’s Immediate Medical and Physical stoppages to ensure that workers are not proceeding with further testing, if deemed unsafe
- Ensure accuracy on all completed paperwork before submitting it for review
Occupational Testing
- Conduct a variety of occupational testing services

- Mask Fitting
Qualifications

Education
Medical Assessors must have an entry level degree in either physiotherapy, chiropractor, or athletic therapy.
- Athletic Therapists
Applicants must have an Advanced Athletic Therapy Certificate, Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology or post-secondary in a related field. All applicants must have successfully completed Canadian Board of Certification for Athletic Therapy Exam and be actively registered with the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association
- Physiotherapists
Applicants must have a BSc.PT or MSc.PT, as well as successfully completed the Physiotherapy Competency Exam (PCE) and be registered with the College of Physical Therapists of Alberta in good standing.
- Chiropractors
Applicants must have graduated from an accredited Chiropractic College, as well as successfully completed the Canadian Chiropractic Examining Board (CCSEB) clinical competency exam and be registered with the Alberta College and Association of Chiropractors in good standing.Experience
One to two years of experience in patient, client or customer care is required. Additionally work experience that includes the following areas of practice is considered a strong asset:
- Musculoskeletal assessments
- Assessing and identifying occupational health and injuries concerns
- Administer testing and proper lifting techniques
