Job Description
Medical Sales Representative
About AstraZeneca:
AstraZeneca Canada is not just ‘another’ pharmaceutical company. We are an organization that cares about people and their health, and we know a healthier world cannot come from drugs alone. That’s why we’ve created a culture that is unlike anything you have experienced before. People are simply at the heart of everything we do – in all of our business strategies and activities – and that is what makes us successful and will continue to drive our business forward. Beyond our effective medicines, we use our courage, creativity and collaboration to create innovative programs that support health education, find better ways to manage disease, and increase healthcare access. When we talk to one another to solve problems, and work with each other to reach common goals, an incredible thing happens – together we move beyond traditional roles to really improve the future of healthcare. Together we create a truly unique place to work – one where we simply love what we do and have fun doing it.
AstraZeneca has one of the biopharmaceutical industry’s most exciting and rapidly expanding Oncology portfolios, spanning both small molecule and biologics research and development. We are developing a comprehensive Oncology portfolio with an emphasis in 4 key platforms: DNA damage repair, Immunotherapy, Tumour Drivers & Resistance and Antibody Drug Conjugates, in 4 core disease areas: Breast, Ovarian, Lung and Hematology.
AstraZeneca is no stranger to Oncology. In 2012, we were 6th globally in terms of Oncology sales, but our Oncology heritage actually began with the development of tamoxifen in 1962. More recently, we have brought major treatment advances to Canadian patients including Zoladex and Casodex (prostate), Arimidex and Faslodex (breast), Iressa (lung) and Caprelsa (medullary thyroid cancer). Last year, we helped 14,000 Canadians who are battling cancer through the use of our products.
The future ambition for Oncology at AstraZeneca is high. Identified as one of three core therapy areas globally, our goal is to become a leader in this space through following the science developed at our own R&D facilities as well as through targeted acquisitions and partnerships. Targeted treatments that specifically address the underlying mechanisms of disease are the future of cancer treatment. We are exploring multiple platforms to attack tumours, including monoclonal antibodies, antibody-drug conjugates, bi-specific antibodies and small molecule chemistry & oligonucleotides.
Science and patients are at the heart of everything we do.
