Psychiatrist (Stephenville)
Western Health is currently seeking the services of a permanent Psychiatrist for Stephenville, Newfoundland and Labrador.
The STRH is a 44 bed acute care hospital offering 24 hour emergency room service and predominantly General Surgery lists, although surgical services are being expanded. Procedural Chronic Pain clinics are run weekly. The hospital is located approximately one hour’s drive away from Corner Brook. WMRH is a 217 bed regional referral centre for Western Newfoundland and provides services to a population base of approximately 78,000 people.

Qualifications:
Interested applicants must be eligible for Specialist registration as a Psychiatrist with The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (CPSNL), Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certified (or eligible) and satisfy the credentialing requirements of Western Health’s Discipline of Psychiatry. Completion of the CPSNL pre-application process on physiciansapply.ca is an asset.
Requirement to do call at Western Memorial Regional Hospital (WMRH) in Corner Brook on an equitable basis with the other members of the Discipline. As this is a regional service, the use of telehealth and traveling clinics are required at times.
Remuneration:
The Specialist Salary Scale ranges from $212,816.00 to $255,383.00 per annum as outlined in the current Memorandum of Agreement (MOA). The Department of Health and Community Services in accordance with Provincial Guidelines will officially determine a Physician’s step assignment with yearly progression thereafter.
Call coverage is separately remunerated by the provincial Medical Care Plan.
An annual Retention Bonus is offered in accordance with the current MOA.

Located in the scenic Bay of St George, the Town of Stephenville has a population of approximately 8,000 and is the service centre for a catchment area of approximately 30,000. Stephenville has a choice of recreational facilities, including the Regional Aquatic Centre (Swimming), Stephenville Dome (Ice skating), Whaleback Nordic Cross Country Ski Trails and Harmon Seaside Links (Golf course). Outdoor recreation is offered all year round, including hiking, kayaking, skiing, snowmobiling and much more.
