Position Details | Position Title: Public Health Physician Department: Communicable Disease and Emergency Preparedness/ Response Duration: Temporary full-time (12 month contract) Location: 480 University Avenue, Toronto. Position Status: Open Job ID: 16-0069 Salary: $214,755 to $257,706 Hours of Work: 36.25 per week Posting Date: March 22, 2016 Closing Date: April 5, 2016 This position is focused on communicable disease prevention and control with a primary focus on including tuberculosis and sexually-transmitted and blood-borne virus infections but as well enteric, zoonotic and vector-borne diseases, respiratory infections and related public health surveillance and control activities. Although this position does not comprehensively focus on immunization and vaccine preventable diseases, these dimensions are included in a number of infectious diseases within this portfolio, e.g. influenza, hepatitis A and B. |
Key Responsibilities | The position will be part of the physician complement within Communicable Disease and Emergency Preparedness/Response (CDEPR) and will report to the Medical Director, Communicable Disease Prevention and Control (CDPC). This position will work in a collaborative manner with other physician and scientist positions within CDEPR and will work as a specialist support and collaborator with the operational director, managers and staff of the CDPC Program.
As such, the key responsibilities of this position are the following: This position will provide the successful candidate with valuable personal and professional development. The successful candidate will gain hands-on experience at the provincial agency level. |
Education and Experience | • Fellowship in Public Health and Preventive Medicine preferred. • Other suitably qualified physicians with post graduate training in public health will also be considered. • Must be licensed to practice medicine in Ontario or eligible for licensure in Ontario. • Local public health experience (minimum of 5 years) in communicable disease investigation and control, including outbreak investigations and control, is a prerequisite. • It is expected that the successful candidate will obtain an academic appointment at an appropriate university. Less qualified applicants may be considered on an underfill basis. |
