Role Summary
We are looking for two individuals that will thrive and contribute to a high performance culture. This is an opportunity to work within one of the newest and most comprehensive private sports medicine and performance training centres in the country. As an integrated team, we are continually striving to create models for collaboration in delivery of sport therapy services and/or support of clients or teams in the performance training environment. The successful applicant will be a therapist who can integrate with the team of current sport physiotherapists and collaborate with exceptional professionals from the other disciplines in the Fortius Institute, in order to provide the best possible experience for each client.
This role would be part-time with availability for three weekly shifts including Saturday’s shifts.
Cutting edge equipment and resources are available for you to incorporate in your daily working environment to support the performance objectives for the individual that you are working with
Assessment – High definition 2D video capture in the therapy area, 3D motion capture on the treadmill and 3D motion capture on dual force plates in the lab, torque analysis, physiological evaluations in the lab (lactate thresholds, Vo2max, body composition)
Therapy – Private rooms plus plinths in the open treatment area, open mirrored movement training area, shuttle, underwater treadmill, expansive training area with Keiser gym equipment, lifting platforms, treadmills, bikes, versa-climbers, rowing machines, PowerWatts bike training, yoga studio, full size gymnasium, outdoor artificial turf training, soccer field and multi-lane 100m track
Recovery – Hot/cold contrast tubs, game ready, normatec compression, steam room, sauna
There is ongoing development of programs and processes within the facility. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to contribute ideas or participate in a variety of programs that are running within the facility:
- Athlete and Team Screening – Movement evaluation to develop individualized training plans
- Fortius Concussion Program – includes cognitive testing, visual evaluation, balance testing on force plates, neck proprioception and muscle testing with follow up retraining
- Rehab for Sports – Advanced on field training for late stage rehabilitation incorporating fatigue and endurance with movement correction
- KidsMove – Physical literacy for children and youth
- KidsPerform – Athletic development for youth
- Adolescent Spondylolisthesis – Progressive physical re-education with motor control for teens with long standing back pain or developmental stress
- ACL and other post surgical programs
All of these programs are being produced with the input of multiple practitioners from each department in the institute.
If you are interested in research, we are interested in discussing proposals. There is a lot of potential moving forward to initiate and implement a number of research projects in the future. Qualifications
Skills & Experience :
Registered Physical Therapist in good standing with the College of Physical Therapists of BC and adequate malpractice insurance. A minimum of 5 years experience as a practicing physical therapist working with an athletic client load or managing the service provision for high performance teams
Preferential experience
Certificate/Diploma in Sport Physiotherapy
Manual Therapy Certification
IMS
Worked at the provincial/national/international level of sport
Presented at conferences, assisted or taught professional courses
Involved in research study or interested in research
