Position Description:
The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health is currently seeking a casual Medical Transcriptionist to support the department throughout the year. Reporting to the Manager of Health Records, the Transcriptionist will transcribe medical dictations according to organizational turnaround times and quality standards achieving or exceeding daily targets of 850-1000 transcribed rows per day. On a regular basis the Transcriptionist will correspond with physicians and CAMH staff to respond to enquiries and support the timely uploading of notes.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have a minimum of a post-secondary education in administration, health sciences, or a related field, and a minimum of 2 years of experience as a transcriptionist in a medical environment preferably with a Mental Health & Addictions population and sound knowledge of associated terminology. A graduate of a certified Medical Transcription program is preferred. Superior typing speed, accuracy, grammar and medical terminology are requirements for this role along with proficiency in MS office. Experience in working with Cerner Millennium and dictation/transcription software is an asset. The candidate will have excellent communication, organization and time management skills as well as strong interpersonal skills. The successful candidate must be a self-motivated team player who can work independently and is able to work under pressure in order to meet deadlines while demonstrating a commitment to high quality work. Bilingualism (French/ English) and/or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.
