Physiotherapist, Musculoskeletal Rehab

The Physiotherapist (PT) is an integral member of the Physiotherapy service, Allied Health and clinical programs in which care is provided. Through the provision of patient (in individual and group format) and non-patient care activities, the PT enhances the quality of life of patients by: providing physical therapy assessment and treatment for Musculoskeletal, Oncology, Trauma clients; assessing for and prescribe mobility aids; collaborating with inter-professional team in providing patient focused care; communicating effectively with patients, families, and team members; participating in program planning and development and professional and hospital initiatives supporting quality management and research; complying with and commitment to patient safety responsibilities and corresponding hospital plans, policies and procedures in order to ensure a safe environment for patients. The MSK Outpatient service has also recently begun to provide the GLA:D Education and Exercise program.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Successful completion of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physiotherapy (BScPT) or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years clinical experience in musculoskeletal and orthopaedic conditions is required
  • GLA:D training is preferred
  • Previous experience working with Oncology and Chronic Pain patients is preferred
  • Bobath and/or NDT experience preferred
  • Registered with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (B Level or C Level) Heart Saver Plus Canada
  • Membership in Canadian Physiotherapy Association preferred
  • Experience as member of interprofessional team required
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) required
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Complies with the legislation outlined in the Regulated Health Professions Act, (1991)
  • Complies with the Code of Ethics and Rules of Conduct of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association
  • Demonstrates competence with departmental and hospital safety, emergency and infection control procedures
  • Ability to exercise sound clinical judgment and to function in an independent, self-directed manner
  • Computer proficiency required
